Here Comes Spring
Each day now, the sun is higher above the karri trees. The shade across our block decreases and the patch of sun increases. Our house sits in the valley bottom with a hill to the north. Thanks to good sense from the people who built our house, even in the depths of winter, when the sun barely skimmed the top of the trees, sun shone through the living room windows. When it shone that is. Now, its reach extends further. The sheds, further up the slope towards the forest, are still in the shade. But, finally, the veggie patch is getting some decent sun during the day, instead of only in the mid-morning and late afternoon. I expect a surge in growth, as springtime photosynthesis kicks in.
