The path is familiar, deeply familiar, yet I haven’t walked here in months, almost a year. Not since we moved house at the beginning of the year. Now here I am, visiting, walking around the lake that I lived near for a long time. I used to visit this wetland almost daily, sometimes twice a day, walking its circumference, sometimes sitting and watching the birdlife. Now, back in Perth for a couple of days, I find myself treading this old route. It’s always a strange thing to revisit a place well known.
I’m shocked by the changes.
